What I've been up to today ...

Carla and I were going to go to a special invitation-only party in San Francisco this evening, and I attended the monthly Amateur Technology Day at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center instead.

I needed to meet our ARRL Section Manager and another amateur regarding a special project that I'm working on ... I let everyone in on the good news after an approval process occurs in January ..Until then, I've decided to keep the project confidential ...

I'd feel awful to put out all the info on what it is, only to later find that I didn't get approval for it ..
Anyway, I'll share it if it looks promising ...

On the way back from "Amtech Day", I stopped at the local "Candy Store" and picked up an LDG "FT-meter" for my Yaesu FT-897D , and also the programming software for the radio. The software also came with the correct programing cable that plugs into the "CAT" port on the FT-897D. ...

The next stop was "Halted Electronics" in Sunnyvale in order to get some electronic parts for yet another project .. It is a simple one . .simply a pair of metal boxes with RF , and power connectors to be able to insert and drop DC power into and out of a coaxial antenna cable ...

I have an SGC model SG-237 automatic coupler and it requires 12 volts DC via a separate power source, so the plan is to duplex the DC power along with the RF on the antenna cable .. it doesn't make sense to go taping a separate twisted-pair jacketed cable on the outside of the RG-58/u , or RG-8/u cable when both can simply be run via the RF cable instead ...

So that was my day today .. had a great time and some hamburgers at the Amtech Day event ..

Elaine,

Sean, age 10 would like to send you email, but email addresses are blocked from qrz.com, due to spammers collecting them. You can send email to errno at errno.com, and I'll give him the address.

Cynthia (his Mom) - he really enjoyed talking to you and George and the others on the Palo Alto repeater (145.230)

I am the sort of guy who enjoys to try unprecedented things. Presently I am building my own solar panels. I am doing it all by myself without the aid of my men. I'm utilizing the net as the only way to acheive this. I saw a very amazing site which explains how to build solar panels and wind generators. The site explains all the steps needed for solar panel construction.

I am not sure bout how precise the information given there is. If some people over here who had xp with these things can have a see and give your feedback in the thread it would be great and I'd highly treasure it, because I really enjoy solar panel construction.

Thanks for reading this. U people are the best.
