A nice replacement for the Yaesu FT-70G


Recently, I was able to find via the surplus marked, an Israeli-manufactured Manpack HF radio. It is called an AN/PRC174S (in the lower photo), and is waaay better in terms of quality in comparison to the FT-70G.
Also included is this photo of the more "civilian" version of HF Manpack set, The FT-70G that I used to have (The upper photo)
The AN/PRC-174S has a built-in automatic antenna coupler, and also has 20 watts output power on CW and 20Watts PEP output on single sideband. This Israeli set was manufactured by Tadiran, and has twice the output power of the FT-70G that was made by Yaesu. The Yaesu set is also not fully mil-spec as far as being "ruggedized" like the AN/PRC-164S ...

Interesting post as for me. I'd like to read something more about that matter. The only thing it would also be great to see on this blog is a few pictures of any gadgets.
